Question about "Almost to Tulsa"

After seeing Jr.Brown play this last week, I decided to learn it for real and get my band to do it. If you see Junior, make sure he does it for you.
He changes his tuning pretty drastically, but plays the thing note-fer-note, just like the original... no pedals!

My question to those who play it:
Do you alter your tuning at all? There's a point where an open F rings for a bar or two... do you tune your high E to F, or just hit pedal 6?
