The Steel Guitar Forum is aging out of its current software. We have concerns that, pretty soon, it just will stop working. Brian, our tech volunteer extraordinaire, is going to update the Forum to a modern day version this President's Day weekend, February 15-17. We have never done this before, and we don't know how long the forum will be down. It will definitely be down for some length of time.
After the update, we should be able to use our search bar again and browse the Steel Guitar Forum on our smart phones more easily. On the administrative end, it should also be easier for us to maintain.
The Forum will have a new look after the upgrade, but the bones of it will be the same. Same old topics. Same old Forum- but better. _________________ Carrying on the Steel Guitar Forum for my dad, b0b, R.I.P. |

Thanks for the heads up and a necessary upgrade. Hopefully, it will make it easier to post pictures and I'm sure the new interface will be welcome. |

Great news. Best of luck on the upgrade. Of course, it will be tough to be without the forum. I'll probably have to start eating marshmallows to pass the time. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Thanks for the heads up. As I am a retired LAN/WAN Network Manager I can appreciate what it takes for a major upgrade. |

Thanks for making such an effort to keep this valuable site thriving. Special thanks to the voluteer. As a small public library trustee I know the value of a digital native willing to take on the task of keeping valuable, older things up to date.
I suggest the first post be a vote of thanks, the second a tribute to Bob, and the third a really in depth discussion of how to tune a steel guitar. _________________ Less equipment, more practice. |

Thank you, Thornton, for your kind comments. Although I very much appreciate your gratitude and support, I want to make it clear that updating the Forum won't delete all of the previous posts! Unless something goes terribly wrong, everything should be saved. It's just going to look different. _________________ Carrying on the Steel Guitar Forum for my dad, b0b, R.I.P. |

Totally onboard wih this. I am cutting down my social media presence and planning on spending more of that energy and time on the forum. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

You have a brave volunteer. Software package updates can be nerve wracking. I'm looking forward to seeing the old forum wrapped in a new package.
Do you mind sharing what version of software the forum will be updated to? I'm assuming you will continue to use an open source php package. _________________ Remembering Harold Fogle (1945-1999) Pedal Steel Player
