I've been recently gifted what I believe is an Epiphone, round neck dobro.
Its a beautiful maple build with f holes and a single spider cone resonator.

There was/is some unpleasant rumbling happening, presumably in the cone.
I've taken it completely apart, cleaned and inspected it all inside and out, and put it back together with new medium gauge strings. I tightened some loose machine heads as well.

The rumbling has been tempered somewhat now but it still persists.
Any thoughts about what this is all about? The cone has some very small dings here and there that may be the cause?
I imagine it could also be some damaged bracing as well...
These particular instruments are somewhat unfamiliar to me so any perspectives are welcome.
Thanks AF

Can you record an example of this rumbling you're experiencing?

Did you check that the spider sits flush on the cone? I think a lot of the low, mid tier instruments use the same mass produced spiders and they aren't very uniform. If you didn't check, it's pretty easy, just find a flat surface like a decent cast iron table saw and set it down on it. All the fingers should be resting on the surface. No wobble. I had to bend and tweak mine a bit. Many other places these noisy gremlins could come from, but this is one place to check. Maybe play around with the cone tension screw a little bit to see if that helps. Good luck!

I'll take a look at it all again with these things in mind...
Might need a new cone but not sure if these are standardized and or easy to come by.

Ya could make a quick voice memo - how does one link that sort of thing here?
Given this is a music centred forum it would be great to have a sound clip option here without having to link other platforms..
