The tone of Sage Benado’s new Steel Dream II analog pedalboard is IMO––to borrow a phrase from eminent steel guitarist Sarah Jory––a chorus of “angels coming out of the clouds”.
The SD II’s improvements over the SD I include additional settings and a true bypass for each of its three effects of distortion, delay, and reverb. The spectrum of possible tones is remarkably broad and deep.
I am using the SD II with a passive volume pedal (per Sage’s suggestion), a Boss Chorus CE-2w and Baby Bloomer in the loop with the VP, and a Little Walter PF 89 tube amp. The result is, to my ear, a richly complex, silky-warm, balanced tone. Heavenly. |
