Hey, y'all!
I got some questions about a '93 GFI I bought last year, and already knew where to come. Novice questions ahead - I have been fortunate to not have to deal with many mechanical issues with a steel until now. This is my second steel I've owned, but finally realized I may have taken a bath on it. This, a Nashville 400, and a basic 5 compartment seat were a bundle for $2,000. And on top of what's listed below, it also was used in a heavy nicotine environment. It likely needs to be disassembled and cleaned.
My ideal outcome would be to get it in playing order and sell it, or really fix it up and keep it. I need to be a big boy and get a functional 3x4. Here is the list.
Tuning Keys: One of the biggest issues with the guitar currently is the sixth and fifth string posts rest and rub against one another. Fifth string also feels like it nearly resists turning when the string is near tension (haven't had strings on it since May of last year). Coming from a guitar background, I thought to put a toothpick in the screw hole kind of like a strap button on a guitar, but that didn't seem to do anything. I'm at least the third owner of this guitar and don't have the history on it beyond the two who had it last, so I'm not sure if a tuner got swapped out, or what.
Legs: Forgive me, but the legs came in a pretty ****ed up condition. They're also short, and what looks like a faux extension on one leg. Gotta use business cards or napkins if the stage were uneven. I know GFI will sell me replacement legs, but if anyone has a set that they have laying around, I'd be open to discussing buying them. I have no clue what the extra holes are for, especially as they're lower to the ground so I can't imagine it was to mount a tuner on.
Pedal Rods: Again, I know GFI will sell replacements, but I want to learn how to manually set and fine tune pedal travel (which I know the forum has posts on how to do that) first. I wondered if the yellow zip tie is to set travel, or if they're all to identify A, B, and C.
Pull Rods: When I got the guitar home, I fine tuned everything up to the RKR lever, and the damn pull rod broke! It had sat in storage for a while before I bought it, and I don't think it fared as well as it could have. I'm "joyously" looking forward to the adventure of putting a new one in! Also, is it okay to keep the zip ties on the bell cranks (if that's the correct names, where the pull rods are connected at in the picture)? Whether it is or isn't, I figure it's probably best to have something a little more suitable.
Like I said, if anyone has advice, or cares to correct any misused terminology I wrote, I'm open to it all!

Since the guitar does not have a plate on the right front saying ULTRA or EXPO. And does not have a Aluminum neck from key head to changer. The guitar is a Student Model.
The guitar looks like it has been mistreated, Along the way too.
TUNING KEYS, The 5 & 6 strings need to be remover, Tuning keys need to be removed, And enough filed off the tuner shaft ends, So they do not touch each other causing tuning problems.
LEGS, The leg with holes, Looks Like it may be sticking. When screwed in the steel body. And someone drilled the 2 holes in the leg, So they could use a long allen wrench or a rod as a lever to remove the leg, So it could be packed in the case. The Student model has 1 adjustable rear leg, So it will set even on floor. Maybe someone threw it away.
PEDAL RODS, SWG, Rod with no cable tie is A pedal, The yellow cable tie is B, The orange is C pedal. OR Reverse C-B-A.
PULL RODS. I would call or E-mail the crew at GFI. And ask them. What kind of spring or clip was used to attach the pull rods to the bell cranks.
