I am a very senior hobby player who mostly noodles around using my A and B pedals along with the E raise/lower levers on strings 10. 8, 6, 5, 4, 3. Mostly on strings 6, 5, 4, 3 with some melody notes on strings 1 and 2.
But there must be other chords I can make that use the 9, 7 and 2, 1 strings. For instance I think that there is a 2-minor from the no-pedals chord on strings 7, 6, 5 with AB pedals. And a 5 chord from no-pedals on strings 5, 2, 1.
I would like to find some more chords that include strings 9, 7, 2, or 1 using just the AB pedals and E raise/lowers. Are there any? Two-string chord fragments that include these "off strings" are welcome too, for playing harmonized scales.
Thanks in advance for any ideas to expand my box a little bit. |

With the lever that lowers string 2 to D, you get a Bm on strings 1,2, and 5. 1, 2 and 5 is a B major chord with no pedals. Lower 2 to C# and you get a Bsus2 chord.
Using the 9th string as the root, play strings 9, 7, and 6 with the B pedal, you have a D major chord. Add string 5 with the A pedal and you have a Dmaj7. I like to play only strings 9, 7, 5 when using that Dmaj7.
Just a few I can think of right now. Dog needs to go out and she's giving me some horrible looks. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Right on both counts.
A couple more no-pedal minor chord grips
6-5-2 would be a 3 minor
10-9-7-5 is a 2 minor if AB pedals down on 10-8-6-5-4-3 is your 1 major.
My dog has been fed and done his business outside and is now chillin by the woodstove. |

Check out FoBro Dale Rottacker on the Forum and on Facebook - he does a lot of neat chord work on E9 using the 9th string lower and other things. |

Thanks to all! Especially Dale Rotaker. Your linked playlists have a lifetime worth of material to work on.
Dale Rotaker, in your comment on one of your videos you said "Was watching a Travis Toy thing on Diatonic Harmony ..." I am interested in finding diatonic harmonies/scales that involve strings 7 and/or 9. Any more suggestions about that in particular?
Also, I have no changes on strings 7 or 9 so I am hoping to find whatever may exist using only AB pedals and my E-levers.
Thanks again! |
