My delay pedal of many years bit the dust. I’ve tried a couple of different units, but they created white noise, both in line and in the effects loop. What pedal do you guys use that is quiet? |

Roger, I have a Boss DD6 purchased this year that does the job for me. I haven't detected any noise using several different amps. |

I have two different pedals that are quiet. MXR Carbon Copy and the Ibanez Mini. Both are analog. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

I use the tiny TC Flashback. Small footprint and you have several options when you set it up.

I concur
The MXR Carbon Copy is clean and effective _________________ Larry Pogreba Baritone 'Weissenheimer

Dennis and Mark, with the Carbon Copy being analog, do you notice any deterioration of the repeats? |

Plus one for the TC Flashback for true bypass, noiseless switching, small footprint, great sound. |

No deterioration of repeats. Analog is just a little warmer tone. Traditional delay. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

I have never noticed any noise with my TC Electronic Flashback 2.
My Mooer ReEcho on the other hand adds a fair bit of noise and also seems to boost the volume in an unpleasant way. _________________ If something I wrote can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, I meant the other one.

I've had a couple of Moorer pedals and both noisy. One of them quit working altogether. They are inexpensive and usually you get what you pay for. I have a Joyo SpaceVerb and love the reverb quality, but it adds considerable "hiss" white noise. It's ok to use on stage, but not if you're recording live or studio. Again, inexpensive. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

Plus one for the Hilton. After over 40 years using everything from the Echoplex on, pedals to rack mounts, the Hilton is the one I'll be using. Simple, clean and lush. _________________ Drew Pierce

Hi Roger, I've had several delay pedals recently and my experience hasn't been exactly great (although all had good delay sounds and features):
Way Huge Aqua Puss: weird artefacts on the repeats
MXR Carbon Copy: weird artefacts on the repeats
Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master: white noise
TC Electronic Flashback 2: white noise
another TC Electronic Flashback 2: white noise
Boss DD8: white noise
I bought 2 different Flashback 2's (not mini), both noisy. I do tend to run my amp loud but we are definitely talking additional, unwanted hiss in the signal when the pedal is engaged.
I tried the DD8 in a guitar shop and it was dead quiet (A/B'd with Flashback 2), but the one I took home from the stockroom was noisy. So I went back the next day and swapped it for the quiet shop-floor demo model. Not all DD8's are the same and I dare say this goes for some of the above delays too. Try before you buy and A/B more than one of the same model if possible. |
