Yes, it's true! David, Harry, and Dawn Jackson have confirmed that Sho-Bud steels will be built again, and they are now working on a new Sho-Bud website. The Jackson Website tells about it too. |

I guess that maybe Gretsch sold the Sho Bud name? Back back to where it really belongs, in my opinion. Could be I suppose. I mean it wasn't doing Gretsch much good anyway.
It will be wonderful to see the ShoBud name on new pedal steel guitars, and in my opinion, these "new" Buds will be by far the finest steel guitars to bear the ShoBud name due to the refinements made on pedal steel guitars in the past few decades .. The Jacksons know how to build great pedal steel guitars, and I am really happy that the proud Shobud logo will once again be seen on new instruments built by them.. bet you will see a LOT of them on stages not long after they are available.... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

The possible roadblock is that the two Jackson brothers are up in age. That worries me for a classic guitar to have a lasting future.
The Jackson’s do think “out of the box” with their great ideas.
Most past manufacturers got out of the business as they aged. |

I hope they will be using cast aluminum and not cnc billets. Cast is much better for sound. That’s the way they use to be made and sounded fabulous. |

That makes sense the guy on eBay who sells nos shobud said someone had bought back all the stuff from the Gretch warehouse in Carolina. I wonder what’s happened to the MCI stuff. _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |

Yes what Kevin said.
You can put a name on any modern built guitar and it will sound just like all the other modern sound; but there is ONLY ONE SHO~BUD SOUND> Period.!!! So we'll see.

Understood, but they can certainly keep their legacy alive for decades to come by training a few skilled young craftsmen/players and sharing with them their family secrets to what makes a ShoBud a ShoBud. Probably have a few guys with them now helping out making their Jackson guitars.. I hope thats the way they go.... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I'm very excited to see Sho-Bud coming back! When I started playing steel almost 25 years ago, I loved seeing those Sho-Buds in the shop where I got my first steel, and the year before I started playing steel, I remember seeing a music video featuring a red Sho-Bud Super Pro and then one night, I was shopping in a store in a mall and heard a steel guitar in the middle of the mall and it was also a Sho-Bud. I think the Jackson Brothers, David and Harry really know how to build wonderful pedal steel guitars! I'm very excited to see how the new Sho-Buds will be! |

Since Jackson have brought back the sho Bud name from Gretch, will a Jackson brand now just become a shobud. Any thoughts! Here’s what their website says:
Sho-Bud is back!!!! The evolution of Pitch Changers continues....
The Jackson family continues a tradition in bending strings, and we finally pulled our Sho-Bud name home. Legendary guitars, ingenious pitch changing and string-bending components and patented Core-Over strings, and we are just starting.
While we transition to the new Sho-Bud site, we will still be accepting orders here, but all products ordered from this point forward will proudly bear the world-renowned Sho-Bud brand.
Still family owned and operated. _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |

Nothing but the logo so far but still this is pretty exciting to see:
https://sho-bud.com/
Congratulations to the Jackson family!
Rebranded Jackson guitars only or reproduction models of the classics as well? Will they be offering legacy parts and service? New range of merch? I see Gretchgear have stopped doing their Sho-Bud hats, shirts and mugs. The website says “Amps”… I mean it is nearly “Christmas”…
Since he’s a Jackson player I wonder if Slash had anything to do with this…?
Idle speculation of course but all in good faith. Who would have thought MSA, Emmons and Sho-Bud would be going concerns in 2025…? |

I wonder whether Shot Jachson ever regretted selling the original shobud company to Gretsch? _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |

I paid $850 for my Sho-Bud D10 in 1973 which means over $6,000 in today's dollars. I wonder if we'll be able to touch one of these new Sho-Buds for less than $10k? _________________ Rocky Pirrello

I wouldn’t be surprised if he busted out a Franklin D-10. |

From strictly a practical standpoint, am I correct in assuming David and Harry are the only ones building Jackson guitars? They must be close to 80. While I appreciate the nostalgia of the sho-bud name, I would be hesitant to put a deposit down without someone younger doing the actual construction. |

I've heard that David, Harry, and Dawn Jackson are working with some people to build the new Sho-Buds. I would love to try out one of the newer models. |

This will be one of those, Hide and watch, Wait and see what happens.
Will they just take the present design Jackson Guitars, And put the name Sho-Bud on them.
Or go back to original Sho-Bud design, And pick out the good things, That gave the Sho-Bud that unique sound. And bring the Sho-Bud back as a guitar that stands alone.
Cast aluminum End Plates, Changer Housings and Key Heads, Wood, Wood thickness, Special aluminum Changer fingers and in house wound pickups to get "The Original Sho-Bud Sound". |

David and Harry drove the innovation of Sho~Bud since the early 70's until control went from Baldwin to Gretsch. I consider the Jackson brand a modern continuation of Sho~Bud. I've never had an opportunity to play any Jackson guitar but during the company's relatively short history (with several different models) I've noticed that they have captured "THAT" sound from "Perm" to Pro with updated mechanics. In other words, I consider the Jackson guitars Sho~Bud's in every respect if not in name. It gives me a lot of joy that Shot's boys get to use their legacy brand again. It's a unique story to say the least. _________________ Best lyric in a country song: "...One more, Moon..." |

Methinks at the appropriate time they’ll just slap Sho bud labels on their Jackson models which will be the modern shobud with all the latest mechanical advances. _________________ LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN GEORGIA |

I saw the new Pro II at the Phoenix show, and it is every inch a Sho-Bud.
They're also bringing back the single Channel Sho-Bud amp.
good stuff... |

Perhaps a new name, such as Sho~Bud Legacy would be appropriate. _________________ Lee, from South Texas - Down On The Rio Grande

Jackson made a commemorative permanent that was one of the best sounding steels I ever played. They are certainly deserving and capable carrying on the Sho Bud legacy. I look forward to seeing what they come up with. Getting the name back must be a good feeling. _________________ Bob |
