I'm still learning on my dobro and I find myself "on slow songs", I put my second finger between my 2nd and 3rd strings behind the bar and bend it slightly. I recently played a couple of songs on my buddy's R Q Jones dobro and I noticed his string spacing was wider. I play a Beard. How hard would it be to widen the spacing on my dobro. I can't afford an R Q Jones .

New nut
New inserts

New setup.

The spacing used on Beard builds has become more of a defacto standard. That spacing is wider than on OMI/dobro build with skinny necks.

Since you are still learning I strongly suggest that you not worry about the spacing and just learn to play it.

Beard builds are fantastic guitars.
