Hi all,
Maybe there has been a thread on this subject, but here's my question:
I'm experiencing a sort of half stop feeling in my B pedal (sho bud LDG). The third string bends immediately when engaging the B pedal, the 6th string does not and is only actuated when I press the pedal further down, after I felt the half stop.
Is it possible to actuate the bend in the 6th string earlier, ie. at the same time as the third string?
Or vice versa, the 3rd string later together with the 6th string, but I guess this would give me to less travel...
Please advice, thank you!

Yes I fixed that awful "b pedal" feel and 6th string tuning problems; by using a .022 wound for the 6th string and .012 plain for 3rd string and if you have a tightening screw at endplate that will tighten that main lowering spring for 3rd string...tighten it ALL THE WAY UP...that will let the 3rd string even raise faster and slow down the 6th string by loosening that lower return spring to the point where that spring almost wants to move inward; but don't let it.
Now if you lower the 6th string a whole tone; just forget all that I said; as you can't really use a wound for the 6th..and they will NEVER moved together. Mine move together and my 6th string doesn't DROP 10 cents when I push just "A pedal"....
And if you go the route that I just said; then you will have a VERY In-tune pedal steel like mine and Lloyd Green and Tom Brumley and Lloyd Maines....and I can go on and on...and if somehow you need to keep 6th string lower a whole tone sound; I can teach you how to do it without having it on a knee lever...yeeehaaaa.

I don't want to lower the 6th string (I have a 7th string raise).
I'm afraid I don't see a tightening screw... Where should I see it, do I turn the instrument upside down? |

I replaced the 6th stringed with a nickel wound!

| Can I do the same thing for the C pedal? There is a slight half stop there too. What gauge do you suggest for the 5th string? |

Yes 4th and 5th string on the C pedal is a little more difficult but not that bad because they're both starting from a different pitch and going to a different pitch.
but basically the idea is to try to speed up the fourth string and slow down the fifth string here's the easiest way to do it.
I use a .015 plain for the four string and then use a .017 plain for the 5th string and if the fifth string has a little flimsy Raise spring, that's a little spring underneath that attaches to a bracket that screwed onto the bottom,,, unhook it and that'll keep it from speeding up so now the fouth string and fifth string should move a lot closer together.
Don't worry about the adjustable lower spring they were really only on from 1973 earlier shobuds otherwise you're going to have to cut spring to make it tighter and I'm not going to have you do that you don't need to.
