Fretboard Journal has a really great interview with Jeremy Wakefield for its October issue. I know there are bunch of his fans here who might be interested. There's some really interesting stuff in here, and he talks about his approach, Bigsby Guitars, Spongebob, and some mind blowing stuff about Sneaky Pete Kleinow...

It's a testament to SpongeBob carrying a torch of Hawaiian music that amongst a certain age demographic hearing those C6 type harmonies and progressions is automatically associated with the show. _________________ Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; praise is meet for the upright. Give praise to the Lord with the harp, chant unto Him with the ten-stringed psaltery. Sing unto Him a new song, chant well unto Him with jubilation. For the word of the Lord is true, and all His works are in faithfulness. The Lord loveth mercy and judgement; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.

Really enjoyed this! Especially when he talks about playing in front of Vance Terry. It is so funny to think about Jeremy up there sweating bullets while Vance looks on! |

I quite enjoyed this too! Listened while I was up in a tree in the woods waiting for deer to show up.
Steel Guitar Caviar is such a fun album. And we owe him and the makers of Spongebob Squarepants a salute for getting that sound in the ears of a generation of kids (especially kids who would never listen to country music, much less Western swing or Hawaiian). _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling
