I have a Simmons pull release Pedal Steel Guitar that I've only had less than a month. It was working fine until this morning...out of the blue. Frustrated!

It's with the 5th string (B to C#) Pedal. Suddenly when I pushed the B Pedal, the 6th string would pull with the 5th string even though I was only pressing the B Pedal. Slightly...buy enough to be out of tune.

I don't know what's going on...& unfamiliar with tuning a pull release steel. A small plastic part fell out when I went to turn it upside down to investigate 🔎

Sigh!

Can anyone help me with this upsetting problem? Thanks very much!

I'll be sleeping until around 7pm...I was up all night trying to fix this....exhausted 😴

What kind of plastic piece fell out of the guitar?
If the piece is half moon shaped, or curved, It may be a spacer, That was between the 5&6 Changer fingers on the changer shaft.

Check the space between the 5&6th fingers compared to the space between the other fingers.

If space is same, Turn guitar upside down on a padded area.
Move the A pedal and watch the 5&6 fingers and see if something on the 5th string finger or linkage is catching on the 6th string finger or linkage and pulling the 6th finger with the 5 string raise, Causing the problem.

Something has changed all at once.
Good Luck finding the cause, And a solution.

It looks like you may have tried to post a picture, which would probably help. Learning how to do basic adjustments and repairs on your instrument is an absolute necessity IMO. Sounds like you are narrowing in on the problem. I play a pull release guitar and friction and binding are the main issues. When they work, they work great!

It's better than it was...I did some adjustments. Still not perfectly C#...a little flat. Thank you.

I'm having no luck posting a picture.

I think everyone has this same problem with posting pictures. There are a ton of threads about it, the problem is almost always file size. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=399443
