just listening to Roger Miller's version of the old ET classic Half a Mind,,,beautiful, traditional steel guitar all the way through,,, bound to be Big E. Anyone know, or have liner notes? Probably a cut on Trip to the Country album? |

Before the days of "Dang Me", "King of the
Road" and such, I was a young, ambitious
song-writer walking the streets of Nashville,
trying to get anybody and everybody who
would to record my songs.
All in all, I wrote about 150 songs for
Ray Price, George Jones, Ernest Tubb
and Others.
Some were hits, and some were not.
Here are a few of the better ones.
In the beginning, I created heavenly,
earthy songs.

That album is an absolute 'must have' for Buddy Emmons fans. ( Is there anyone out there who is not a 'Big E'fan ? ?) |

Buck Reid does a great job on this song on the Big E tribute album. |

The original Tubb version from 1958 is classic Emmons all the way through too. Cool open string stuff, amp tremolo on the verses. It was a favorite Emmons cut of Buddy Charleton's.
Having a hard time posting a link for some reason, but easy to find on youtube. |
