I just finished the Buddy Emmons book by Steve Fishell for the second time tonight. What a great read it is. I would you to check it out! One of my favoring things was after reading about a song or recording session is to go to YouTube and listen to the recording,!

I also have it on my Kindle. I have dialysis in an hour - I think I'll read it again.

It really is well written, and is a perfect balance with Fish' narrative intermingled with E's direct quotes and existing notes. We learn of Emmons' struggles through the years, but the focus is on Buddy's dedication and desire to excel in his chosen field.

Steve has done us all a great service; it feels as though the Big E is still with us.

Yes! A “must read” for any steel player. So many questions get answered in that book. Through the years I’d often wondered what possessed Buddy to move to California when he did, and now I know.

Just echoing everybody's posts. Every steel player should read "Buddy Emmons Steel Guitar Icon" by Steve Fishell, if for nothing else than for inspiration and a guidepost forward.

On a personal level, the photo of Buddie sitting behind his first Sho-Bud Permanent holding Buddy II on his lap got to me.

PSA for those that haven't yet read it. You can get it here, or on Amazon. Well worth the read for sure.
