80’s original black surround Bill Lawrence-SOLD

Listing this for a friend. These pickups were built by Bill Lawrence’s partner who took over production of the Bill Lawrence 705 pickups in the 80’s. Lengthy story from what I understand, but he used a black surround rather than a chrome surround to differentiate between the models. This particular pickup seems to have the dc ohms of a chrome 805. Bill Lawrence used Henry’s ac impedance method rather than dc ohms resistance so windings varied by a few thousands but the pickups sounded the same. I have used a set of these many years ago and they sounded really good. This is NOT the current Re-issue models which have the 5 wire configuration and a permanently attached mounting plate molded with the pickup.

This particular pickup was on an early Shobud Frypan that was one of the prototypes my friend purchased 25 years ago. He changed the pickup out for a Jason Lollar horseshoe that he said he really likes. I know nothing about the Frypans or the Lollar pickups as I’ve never had the chance to own either.

This pickup can be used as narrow or wide mount and I’ll include whichever plate the buyer needs. Asking $100 shipping included.
