Has anyone ever changed the undercarriage from round to Square or Hex cross shafts

Why would you need to?... Those cross shafts are fine if tightened properly... Only people that might have an issue is someone that exerts an inordinate amount of force on levers on a continual basis. Most steel players couldn't cause those bellcranks to slip in normal playing.. I'm sure it could be done, but for the cost of the "upgrade" with all new cross shafts, new bellcranks, bushings, appropriate pull rods etc, you could simply sell the MSA and buy a steel guitar with square shafts...
