I want to express my gratitude to Derek Puckett.
In early-May, I ordered a new D10 Prestige (8+9) and, as required, sent a 1/3rd deposit ($2200) and took my place-in-line.
Since then, however, I came to question the wisdom of spending so much on a new steel when my trusty Emmons is still serving me well. Whether or not I'm serving my Emmons well is open to question!! )
On top of that, I have found my essential-tremors have worsened to the point where competent playing is beyond me on a bad day.
I found myself wondering how I could honorably withdraw from the arrangement without losing my deposit.
Purely coincidentally, my friend Frank Parish told me that he was selling his 12-string Mullen and intended ordering - a Rittenberry. I cautiously suggested that I had a deposit down on a guitar and told Frank that, subject to Derek's approval, if he'd pay me $2200, he might possibly take my spot in the queue.
Derek could not have been more accommodating! He readily agreed to the plan and, yesterday, I got the money from Frank and he's now halfway through the waiting period.
I didn't do this lightly. I love Joe Rogers' Rittenberry (and Dale Rottacker's) and was looking forward to having my own. It just doesn't make sense for me now. I'm more agile on a 6-string guitar, even on bad days with the tremors.
I had to share this turn-of-events and to express my appreciation for Derek's cooperation. He's a man of principle.
Thanks to Frank, too - a happy coincidence for me! _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Sounds like a wise decision and a good outcome. And if the shaking gets worse, you can take up playing mandolin, Italian style... |

This could be the next big market for internet scalpers
“yeah, that MSA 2 year wait is a doozy… say buddy, I’ll sell you my deposit/14 months waited spot for +500% of what I paid, how about it?”
“such and such company is no longer taking orders due to high demand? that’s a shame. by the way, I have 75 double necks on order from them, I am selling spots for $2500 each…” |
