We've lost so many of our earlier heroes that it's sometimes depressing to think about.

I'm so fortunate to have kept all these early magazines and newsletters etc. when I'm feeling nostalgia concerning the excitement of my formative years with the pedal steel.

The old Tom Bradshaw Steel Guitarist magazine. Thank you Tom.
These used to be still available at the forum store.

The later editions of Steel Guitar World magazine. Thanks Russ and Billy B.

Jeff Newman's Pedal Rod and other newstetters. RIP.

Bob Maickel's PSGA newsletters. Thanks Bob.

Also an assortment of other newsletters, mailings etc. from Seymour et al.

Quite a library of steel guitar content and information.

I really enjoy thumbing back through these things, seeing pics of and reading content from my earlier heroes. It helps keep them alive in my memory.

"It's not healthy they say to relive yesterday but for me it's a way to survive."
.....Well maybe not survive but perhaps persever.

Just checked the forum store magazine section and all those Steel Guitarist mags from the 70s, early 80s are still available and at a giveaway bargain price of $2 except for the dbl issue $4. You can get all 6 issues for just $10!

Folks, you need these. If you don't already have them now's the time to pick 'em up while they are still available.

I have already purchased duplicates so I'm set.

I got them a couple years ago, and enjoyed them quite a bit.

Aside from the great content of course, the writing style, ads, look and feel of it really brought back memories of magazines I read as a young boy. Pretty neat.

Jerry, I share your thoughts on our heroes and follow the same approach. Plus I have a decent collection of their music and many tapes I recorded at shows over the years. It's a lifelong collection of cherished memories that bring me back to the greatest days of my life.

Just looking at those magazine covers brings back the thrill of my early days learning about this remarkable instrument. Smile

Yes, that's it fellas. The excitement created by the instrument and it's players as a noobie. So much to look forward to entering the magic world of steel guitar.
