I’m wondering if the Emmons Resound 65 has the same construction as the original Wraparound pre jig cabinets or the post jig cabinets? Seems there is a significant difference between the two. I reference Chris Lucker’s post dated March 3, 2021 for the explanation on cabinet construction for which I draw my question. Also, are the aluminum necks hollow on the Resound 65? |

Steve,
The early Emmons guitars had their components hand fitted it seems, owing largely to to the fact the keyhead end of the necks were angled away from each other to allow room for the tuning keys to clear each other in the middle. This was later resolved by narrowing the keyheads for tuners 1 and 10, and bodies from 1966 or so have evidence of jig holes under the necks, allowing them to be installed perpendicular to the ends of the guitar.
Having examined dozens of pre-1970 guitars, including several Wraparounds, I can say that excluding the various accommodations made for the different changer mounts used, the bodies are basically the same(including the body joint) until 1970 and the introduction of the Fatback models. Those guitars indeed have a narrower body joint than layer models, and we have stayed true to that design from the get go. In addition to that particular detail, early guitars are set apart by utilizing a wooden pedal stop bar and thinner endplates, all of which we have faithfully retained.
Lastly, our Wraparound necks are hollow throughout, just like the Originals! _________________ Co-owner and operator: Emmons Guitar Co. |

Kelcey,
Thank you for the reply. I also commend you for keeping faithful to the original Wraparounds. Many times it’s said that “they don’t make them like they used to”, but in the case of the Emmons Resound 65, you certainly have. |
