I've been using something similar, only without the submarine pickup, and it really opened up a world possibilities for me. In fact, I even have a notebook where I wrote down all of the chords I could get with different pitch change settings. When I was into live MIDI looping, it really added a richness to my sound that was incredible. I still bust it out once in a while.

Seen this before and wondered why it's not developed and used on steel. Certainly has a lot of potential.
