Probably shooting myself in the foot, but I'm renewing interest in the pedal steel and, time and opportunity permitting, might want to attend and/or play some regional steel shows.
Not interested in a jamboree type thing but only events where the steel guitar is showcased front and center and not just a backup instrument for vocalists.
I held several offices in our steel club here and played it quite often until it all went to hell a few years ago and turned into a country music jamboree so I've been out of the loop for several years. Also had to deal with some family health issues that are limiting and still have to be fairly close by in case of issues.
Not a professional player by any means. Always just a weekend warrior sort of player.
I used to play the Central Ky steel club regional things and Fred's big show in November. Also played a few other clubs such as the Indy Club and the Green River Club all back in the 90s and early 00s.
I play a double neck guitar and a variety of music from real country to country rock to some classic rock, pop, big band and also light jazz on occasion. Not the greatest player but the greatest lover of steel guitar music, people and enthusiasts. Can work with a house band or bring my own crew.
I'm not looking to travel a great distance. Regional things around 100-150 mis. or so from Louisville Ky.
I can't hang with the big boys, but if there are some regional things where you might just need to fill a spot or so, I'm interested in participating more in these events. _________________ proud appalachian american
