1950 Fender Dual 8 Professional. Walnut body. Excellent condition. Cleanest early Dual Pro I’ve ever seen. The case still glows. There’s a few dings, typical lacquer checking and some slight wear on the back necks chrome keeping it from the mint category. When I got this steel the front neck pick-up needed rewind and the 3-way switch was faulty. These steels are notorious for needing rewind and most you see for sale either have had a rewind or will need one. Just looking at them wrong could cause a pick up to fail! But as Leo Fender told Robb Lawrence the “String Thru” pup was his favorite.
When I removed the switch to unsolder the p.up I noticed why it was off. The wiper was moving outside the contacts in one spot. I would bet 10 bucks it happened very early in its life or possibly left the factory in that condition, my guess is it got by QC and left the factory this way, it would certainly explain why it stayed in such condition. The matching Pro amp was also in stellar condition.
The p.up was sent to Steve Tillyer at Lo-Fi Electronics. Steve has been rewinding them for me for 30 years and nailed the look and sound of the original. The back neck pup is original. While I had the switch out the wiring was moved to make the position 180 from stock. So, the switch pointing to the front neck activates the back neck. It leaves a bit more clearance for playing that neck. I never changed the switch but purchased an excellent reproduction for replacement which is included. Also the rubber leg tips are replaced.
There are no dates except on one pot and it’s from late May 1950. Includes a custom made Studio Slips case cover and the replacement switch, the cord that was in the case and the replaced p.up coil.
It’s a great example of this model. I just don’t use it and have other Fenders. Ask any additional questions and I have a ton of other pics, email for additional images. All the images are large so there's only a few here. Resized a few more.
$2,500 plus shipping.

Beautiful guitar I have one just like it. From what I've been told it is a 1951, serial number D-1969. Curious what your SN is on this one. |

What a beautiful example of a Dual 8 pro. I'd love to own this, but it's just not for me since I would never take it anywhere. Thanks, Tommy..... |
