The tune that most of us are totally sick of, but the rest of the world continues to love. Laughing

That was great Doug ... Funny how connected we are to certain songs ... I can still remember the where I was the first time I heard it as a kid ... We we living in a small trailer/mobile home while Dad was going to College in Northern Alberta and he had a Johnny and Santo LP with this on it ... Chet Atkins with Wheels on it too lol

Thanks guys. Yeah, this song is like a time machine for those of us who grew up in that era. I was only 9 years old when the song came out in 1959, but the song was a #1 pop hit and it got a lot of airplay in the early 60s. It always reminds me of building model airplanes and model cars on my dad's workbench, with my little transistor radio on the bench... blasting out Santo & Johnny, The Everly Bros, Elvis, etc. Very vivid and sweet memories.

Doug: Santo and Johnny would be proud of your rendition. It's the best I've ever heard. Thanks, Tommy..... P.S. I happen to have an Emmons S-10 that is a twin to yours.

Thank you all. I try to play this song in a plain and simple way, mostly single notes, as Santo did. It's hard to duplicate his sound. And it's very tempting to add in a bunch of fills and licks in the empty spaces, and more full chords and a big, lush ending. But less is more with this one IMO, if you're trying to capture the vibe of the original song.
