Hey all, welcome to the 6th Friday of cover tunes from the Fender 400 Beatle Band! Like last week, today we'll highlight another song from Paul and the other from John.

First up is Paul's "Paperback Writer". Originally released as the A-side to the 1966 single backed with "Rain".

Second is John's "Across the Universe". Originally appearing on the 1969 charity compilation album, "No One's Gonna Change My World", after some minor revisions it landed on the "Let it Be" album.

Hi Dennis,

I've enjoyed your Beatle covers. You do a lot with the instruments you use. I enjoy your textures and a lot of the harmonies, etc. that you present. The Beatles are very steel friendly because they're so melodic. Keep it up.

Thanks Joe, I'm glad you're enjoying them! I used a Line 6 XTPro for all the Fender 400 signal processing and my goal was to get a wide range of sounds out of it. The project was a lot of fun and I learned a lot...any time I get really stuck musically and can't seem to write anything new, I go back and cover a few Beatle songs and it gets me unstuck Very Happy

I still have 8 to go so will be posting every Friday for the next 4 weeks Winking

Nice job Dennis.. Thats certainly not a typical Fender 400 type tone thats for sure,, Very unique sound and concept! I admire your ability to put these together - must have taken a ton of work,...... bob

Thanks Bob! It was a lot of work, but I grew up on The Beatles and have loved their music my whole life so it was really more fun than work Winking

As far as that 400 sound goes...that old Fender pickup run through the Line6 was a match made in heaven. Unfortunately I came to a "thinning the herd" moment a few months ago and had to choose whether to keep the 400 or Mullen G2 SD12. I hated to let the 400 go but I kept the Mullen because I could do everything I wanted on it where I could only do some of the things I wanted on the 400.
