Several years ago after I'd built a few pedal steel guitars, making them smaller and lighter, I got to thinking about volume pedals: do they have to be so large? How small could a volume pedal and still be functional? So I built a small pedal that soon became my volume pedal of choice. Other musicians have asked me about them and wondered if I would build more. Finally I have. Here they are, hand built in Denver.

Nice looking pedal. It might be nice to have a "reference" photo with the pedal next to another item of known size (e.g. pencil, golfball or another VP).
I know you list the the dimensions, but,.........." a picture's worth a thousand words". |

Great idea Tony, thank you! Here's the Moyo volume pedal next to a Hilton low-profile pedal.

The works are nice and compact on the inside. Makes sense; I like it. (I use one about that size, but not as good-looking.) |

Wow the size difference is dramatic. Is the height similarly low as compared to the Hilton? |

here's your 1000 words: Moyo height is about 3/8" less than the Hilton low-profile.

This is very cool, Glenn.
Did you find a learning (or a 'getting used to') curve? I've been using standard Goodrich for a couple dozen years so it's totally my norm. |

My first volume pedal was a goodrich, which I still have (for the past several years with the dunlop pot). I've had 4 or 5 different volume pedals thru the years, and I've never had trouble getting used to different ones. I've tended to grab whichever one was handy, leaving a rig set up for practice, etc. |

I just got one. It's cooler than it looks in the pictures. Surprisingly heavy and rugged, and opens up lots of room in my pack a seat and on the floor.

Just installed Glenn's pedal on my new pedalboard. LOVE THIS. Form, function, size, aesthetic, quality...are all stellar. Photos to follow.
Kudos Glenn. |

Got mine today. I will use it mainly for guitar. I will stick to my Telonics for steel.

I sent Glen a p.m. and I'm just waiting for a reply. This should work out good, because my main Emmons p/p has 10 floor pedals, so the extra space will be nice. I hope it's easy to replace the pot when needed. Tommy...... |

Just got mine. It's a nice pedal. Has the familiar feel of a good string-driven pedal (which is what I like). Even with the provided pictures, I was not prepared for how small this thing is. Truly compact. Good job, Glenn! |

interestingly enough, the comparison shots make the normal sized pedal look monsterous and ugly! |

Even with the pictures above, I wasn't prepared for how freakishly small it is. Under a bare foot (which I never do) it would probably be a problem. Under a regular shoe sole, it took me all of 30 seconds to forget that it was any different from the Goodrich.
This was a whim purchase for the occasions where it is an advantage to be able to travel ultra mini or to stash a spare. The most informative part of my review would be that it's not something that takes any special getting used to.

Not sure how well my size 14 would sit on a pedal like that. |

Granted, Ken, there's a difference between that and my 9 1/2, but unless you are wearing flipflops, my foot just doesn't notice that it's hanging off the pedal. |

I like this pedal. It saves so much space in my seat or whatever I'm carrying my stuff in. Actually fits in my shirt pocket. Another plus for me is that I like to play a console steel standing up, and I find this pedal much more comfortable to use while standing than my full size pedals. My size 10 shoe has no problem with it. |

May be the angle of the photo, but it appears that the end of the pot shaft slides into a bushing in the frame. |
