Hey everyone. I'm hoping to receive some guidance from the community on upgrading my Steel

I recently upgraded to a Sho Bud Professional with a Rack and Barrel changer from an LDG with Two Hole Pullers.
Cosmetically, its my dream Bud. But I am looking to upgrade it to a Pro II set up with Barrel/Two-Hole Pullers, Crossbars etc. I understand its a coveted system and I have played a Pro II once before and loved the feel of it.

Below is my Professional for reference its a 8x4

And this is the undercarriage of a James Morehead Professional converted to Pro-II Bud.

I'm also looking into adding a Vertical Knee level similar to the Moorehead Bud and a 9th pedal.

All this to say: What parts would I need and where can I find them?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

-Carlos

Well me and John Coop used to do that with parts he would make; but he passed. Our student James Morehead took over making parts that incredible; but he passed. My Good friend/Neighbor Michel Yahl makes incredible parts exact at www.psgparts.com
But you are easily looking at waaaay over $1000.00 bux to do all crossbar 8 pedal 4 to 5 knee mechanics; but well worth the money and here's me playing that D-10 Shobud James Morehead put together on a French Singer Songwriter friends album we recorded at Tommy Detamore's Cherry Ridge Studio many moons ago>

Beautiful Bud and great tune Ricky! Thanks for sharing
Appreciate Michels info. Btw, I believe you’ve worked on my Bud. It’s Ed Rheas old steel, which I think James Morehead worked on at some point.

I’m willing to make the investment, but I’d like to just get the parts at my own pace. Would you happen to have a list of what parts would be needed?

Thank you!

OH yes indeed I remember Ed's Sho~bud; I had it for a time; setting up I believe my whole Copedent??? and I played it on stage a couple times...
As for parts; very hard to say, as looks like the hangers on the front apron would take the 5 pedal Crossbars for C6; but I doubt they are high enough...and first 3 pedals have extension on Rack to be pulled; maybe all the stops would work on the front apron...but again; would have to be measured. So basically I'm saying: "No Carlos; I would not have a list, sorry bro. Almost looks like completely EVERY part of Rack mechanics would not be interchangeable with any Crossbar mechanics".
Your best bet; would be asking Michael@psgparts.com that question as he would know more about what has to be "Newly" made and what can you continue to use from original.

I believe so! You have the only the right lever active on the C6 neck?

Thanks for Michael’s email, I reached out and waiting to hear back.

Yes for the C6 on that classic ShoBud that James Morehead put together, is always 8 pedals 1 knee lever.

That looks great Johnie! Beautiful LDG!

Would Jeff be able to do a conversion without his parts?
I’d like to stick with the Pro II mechanism.

Ricky, are you taking in any restoration work?

Yes Carlos; I always take in work if I can possibly make it consistently playable again.
But remember; if you want parts made; you have to get Michael to make them and you pay for them; he'll send them to me if I'm doing the work; then You send me the steel(while he's making them; and I will put anything together; but I don't machine parts; Michael does.
www.psgparts.com is the shop
Michael@psgparts.com is the genius.

Thanks Ricky, as I’m not in a crazy rush to do this. I’m happy to get the parts from Michael.
I reached out to him. He didn’t seem excited for the idea, which is fine by me. His work is incredible and hopefully he gets back to me with a list of parts I need to make this happen.

Given that I work playing steel, I think it would be better for me to buy the parts first and then send them over to you along with the Steel to have the shortest turnaround time possible.

That sounds awesome Carlos.;
Yes no worries and I'm always available to you for that.
But yes Michael is EXTREMELY Busy; as he's the only one that machines to perfection for any/all models pedal steel.

Appreciate ya Ricky

I know that this what I want for this guitar. Rack and Barrel is great but I’ve seen you and countless others talk about how it’s a worthy upgrade. The best Bud I’ve ever played was a Pro II but Cosmetically, nothing beats this for me.
