recorded a classic Ernest Tubb song trying to get some pedal steel inflections. pardon me if you think im overdoing the moving thing, but after all it is the object to try to get some pedal sounds. in order to move some things under the melody notes on a lap steel, it helps to have some open strings sustaining on top while you move the bar with notes underneath. a heavy bar will help with the long sustain sound that a pedal guitar has. i managed to get in a few billy byrd licks and a patti page tune. just having fun...

That was pretty cool Bill, thanks for sharing. And I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering - is this a non-pedal E9 tuning on an eight string guitar? _________________ Mark |

17 strings - well I guess that explains it! A lot going on there. To paraphrase a character from the old Monty Python TV show - that would make my brain hurt! _________________ Mark |

I’ve built several lap steels….6,8,10,12netc. This one is more of a simple wide body slab of solid maple. I made a 14 string keyless tuner and added three machine heads later. Here is a pic of the tuner.

What planet did you just fly in from Bill???? I compare that to someone dancing on the top of a needle. Just fantastic!!!.
As an aside ..Do you still have your DelVecchio ? It would be nice to hear a few bars of your playing it. Kind Regards

Unbelievable! I think there are some folks on the pedal guitar forum who would really be scratching their heads at this one! |
