It was too dark for me. The 418 8h is the one you want.

If you get it for bass, try it with steel. My Nashville 400 has a Black Widow 1502, which is a bass speaker. I have tried the 1501 guitar speaker and prefer the 1502 bass speaker. I have a friend that had a Fender Steel King and put a JBL D140 in it and liked it better than the stock speaker.

It can’t hurt to try. Altec made great speakers and at a good price, what do you have to lose. I think I paid 75-100 for one some years ago. The 418 8H is considerably higher.

| I have no experience with the 421. I did have 418b in my Twin Reverb for many years until I could no longer schlep it. Can't imagine a better speaker for steel guitar. |
