Hi lapsteelers,
It has been a while ... I tried playing with benders, looking for a tuning to play melody and harmonies.
But I found in the end 6 strings and the C6-tuning is fine!
I got a request from Ron McEntyre and a push from Jerry Derr, and here we are with this basic song:
Your Cheating Heart by Hank Williams, recorded in 1952.
I made my version in the key of C, like the record, a bit shorter, but it's a good song to practice on for the 1 - 4 - 5 feel in chords.
I understand Don Helms played on the record, probably using his E6 tuning.
That's 4 semitones higher and tighter than C6 is.
On the other hand it means that I have to go 4 positions up on the board.
And thát means counting to position 20 !
My version is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ng-X6AW_z4
If you want the complete tab, I ask a 4 dollar/euro donation on Paypal, on account farroach.tabs@gmail.com ,
and I'll send you PDF and backing track.
Here's the start of the song, hope you like it !
All the best,
Bert
