There’s a Hal Rugg lick rattling around in my head that I’ve always loved and wanted to learn and I have the perfect place to use it or some variation on a Loretta Lynn song I’m recording steel for. As you might expect it uses the chromatic strings, descending and then ascending. Anybody know the one I mean? And which recording it’s on? Sorry if I’m being too vague but I bet one of you swell guys knows just what I’m talking about! _________________ Greg

Wow there’s a ton of great stuff there but not the exact lick. It might not be on a Loretta record but it’s definitely Hal. Just going from memory I believe it starts with a single string on the b7th note, sliding down a half, then two strings (might be 2 and3?) then a similar phrase going up. _________________ Greg

The triplet run in the intro of One’s On The Way is a timeless Hal Rugg signature lick. |
