Having grounding problems. Doesn't have the crystal clear lush sound it's always had. Poss needs to be rewound. Fralin? Or is there a Rik pickup specialist around? Thanks

Could be the potentiometer, a bad solder joint or maybe even a bad jack connection. Don’t mess with pickup yet until all else has been ruled out.

Very qualified tech worked on it near me. We even bypassed the pot and went straight to Jack. The pickup isn't grounded like most. It makes contact under the bobbins to the body. He did a good contact cleaning but still intermittent.
Hate to mess with this historic pickup, until it doesn't sound like it did and can't use.

I feel your pain. I’ve owned a Frypan and a bunch of older horsheshoe pickups and this is a worst case scenario. I would reach out to a few guys—Dave Stephens is someone I have a lot of faith in for historic pickups and I would see what he thinks. His website is SD pickups. I would also talk to Jason Lollar. He rewound an old 10 string shoe for me. I don’t have experience with Fralin or any of the other guys for this kind of work.
