Anyone out there who can compare the tone of these 2 Telonics 12 string pickups? The model 128 vs model 427.
Going into a Williams 700 U-12.
Thanks. _________________ Dave Wren

I've never owned a 128. I have a 427 in one of my U-12 MSA's. I have the Telonics 12X in the other one. I like them both. The 427 is a little beefier in mids and lows compared to the X12. However, I like both. David Hartley has some UTube videos comparing a few pickups. On one, he's using the 409 (10 string version of the 427). Adjusting the poles takes a little time to zero in on your tone preference with the X-12 and 427. The X series isn't listed on Telonics website. You have to contact them and request the X series. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

David, I haven't played through the 128 or 427. But I have the X12 in my G2 and like it a lot. And any shortcomings in my tone aren't because of my pickup.
Dave Beatty at Telonics is the best. Give him a call and he will answer your questions. |

Thanks Dennis and Rick. Think I will contact Telonics for their impute on these 2 pickups.
Been using a George L 12-1 in my Carter for the past years, and always got nice comments on the guitars tone. Williams Guitar suggested the 128 as a replacement. I sure have a deep respect for the Telonics products as a whole. _________________ Dave Wren

I had a GeorgeL 12-1 on one of my guitars for a short time. You'll find the Telonics to have more clearity than the 12-1. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

I don’t know what 12 string model Telonics I have in my Williams but I really like it. My guitar is at rehearsal and I won’t get there until next Thursday or I’ll see if I have the package it came in with a number on it. I have swapped out several pickups in that guitar and the Telonics will stay in there for my life. _________________ I survived the sixties! |

Thanks so much Len!
Starting to look like the X-12 is the latest offer from Telonics.
Think I'll send Sophia an email.

So, to cap this off... I just receive a nice email from Telonics, and the X-12 seems to be the replacement for the older 128.
Now, if I can just wait
Thanks everyone. _________________ Dave Wren
