Changing old Sho-bud to left knee E’s ?

Old Sho-Bud master mechanics:

How hard would it be to change this old Sho-Bud (in like new condition) from right knee E’s to left knee E’s and also to add right knee changes for strings 2,6, and 9 (Emmons set up)?
It currently only has two right knee E levers.

And any sources for parts that are still operating?
Difficulty level for mechanical work?

Parts. That is the problem. I rarely see these parts for sale and I seem to often see WTB's for them. I believe rightward moving levers have the same parts but the leftward ones -- LKL & RKL are different as the cross shaft for LKL has to be placed to the other side of the pedal cross shafts and the lever requires a long rod to it with ball joint connectors.

I can't describe the difficulty -- with pictures and all, it should not be that hard. I've done some custom work, moving and adding levers on my similar vintage Bud and it worked out well.
BUT.
I had access to parts that were being made by third parties at the time.

You might check with Michael at www.psgparts.com and tell him what you are wanting to do. He has a lot of parts for Sho~Bud guitars including pull rods and tuners....I also see some linkage parts with connectors.

Barry Coker is also machining some custom 'bud parts.

Those look like 2 hole pullers on round cross shafts but I defer to Ricky Davis.

Judging by the holes in the cabinet, looks like the parts you need have been removed from the guitar...or perhaps just relocated to the other end.

You might also try Jim Palenscar at Steel Guitars of North County, and Jeff Surrat at Show Pro about parts.
Bottom line… it’s worth doing the swap.Especially if you’re planning on adding more levers.

Thanks all. Skip—I called Jim Palenscar, sent him pictures, and he’ll look into it. I have family that I visit often near his shop…..so fingers crossed. He did a great job on another guitar of mine last year. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it. Thanks!
