What is the ideal temperature for the room you keep your steel in? I live in a humid and hot area and I know both can have a negative impact on a steel guitar. Any advise or ideas would be appreciated.

Ideally 65 to 75 degrees to keep metal and wood from expanding and contracting.

Gennerally, relative humidity should be kept between 35% and 55%. Higher than than 55% promotes expansion, finish fogging, and fugus. Lower than 35% can promote shrinkage. Also, rapid temperature changes can cause finish cracking, so don't take a guitar that's been in cold temperatures overnight, and expose it to heat. Ideally, such a guitar should be left in the case for a half hour or so, in order for it to acclimate to the higher indoor room temperatures.
