Fulawka D6 PSG

Well, I ended up buying Lee Wilbur's Fulawka D6. Ed custom made the D6 to Lee's specs around 2005ish.

The far neck is a pedal steel guitar, the near neck is a lap steel guitar. Both necks are 24.0" scale. This is one HEAVY steel guitar. I was surprised when I picked it up (it came in a flight case).

I wasn't sure where to post this hybrid guitar as it's half PSG and half lap steel no pedals so mods please move it if needed.

Lee had the pedal steel neck set up as an Open E with 3 pedals and 3 knees. The lap steel neck was set up as a regular C6 lap steel. I changed the lap steel neck to an A6 tuning today. Here is the copedent:

The E neck tuning is similar to the Dobro tuning of 135135 but Lee used the 2nd chord inversion and put the 5th in the base i.e. 513513. I have not seen this before and I am curious if this is a common tuning.

The other question I have is the Vertical Left Knee raising only one of the Es to F. When would this be used rather than the LKL lever that raises them both?

While looking for other 6 sting PSGs (and posting the history of Mavericks), I remembered that Jackson makes a Maverick 6 string 2x4 PSG. They describe the tuning as "Nashville" Tuning:

6 string 2×4 ~
6 strings, 2 foot pedals, 4 knee levers.
Nashville Tuning:

1 – G#
2 – E
3 – B
4 – G#
5 – E
6 – B

Foot pedal 1 raises B’s to C#
Foot pedal 2 raises G# to A
LL raises both E’s to F
LR lowers both E’s to Eb
RL raises 2 (E) to F#
RR lower 5 (E) to D

So are 6 string PSGs common in Nashville?

looks like the singular up lever with E-F gives you a C#7(#9) but with no root.
So you can play Night Life ( or Foxy Lady )...
Probably some other uses too... Very nice.

The 6 and 8 string steels were the first guitars that pedals was added to, To become the first pedal steels. Then strings was added by players like Buddy Emmons to get more music out of the guitars.

The front neck is set up with E tuning.
1-2-3 strings are setup same as strings 3-4-5 on a E9th 10 steel.
4-5-6 strings are same as strings 6-8-10 on a E9th 10 steel.
These are 2 common grips used on E9th tuning. If the 5th and 6th strings are wound, The guitar would have the most common used strings. By using the pedals and knee levers, You have Major, Minor and 7th chords. E9th lessons could be used to learn some of the basics, And later transfer to an E9th neck.

With the A 6th tuning on the near (back) neck, The guitar would have a lot of music capability.
A good instrument to start a steel guitar journey with.

Tony, I wrote what I was thinking wrong.
It is tuned in E, With the F# missing, That would make it an E9th tuning.

Tony here is the one I had...loved it foolishly sold it it had the initials AB underneath at the time mine was built Al Brisco worked and helped Eddy out at times both are considered good friends to me even though as Eddy has moved on he is often in my thoughts ...yours is a very sweet guitar
