The last while my right middle fingernail has begun to connect (catch) with the strings occasionally. It is really becoming a nuisance. I have never had this problem. I now must keep that nail filed back very short. I have not changed picks in years, and I don't seem to have changed right hand picking style. I have developed some tendinitis in my right thumb, maybe that could contribute. My pick is extended well past the fingertip.

Any suggestions or tips to solve this greatfully accepted and appreciated.

I have a similar problem when my hand gets too 'curled'. Pulling my palm back and using a slightly flatter position helps (middle finger less vertical).. and rotating my pick slightly to better cover the corner of my nail. Moving your hand forward slightly might possibly be compensating for your thumb? 🤔

Thanks Dave, you are probably correct. The thumb issue is evidently affecting my grip even though my fingers are fine.
