Hello Steelers, got my first pedal steel a few months back and it’s the best decision I ever made. Fully obsessed with it, and curious if anybody could help me with some info. I bought a MSA (I think classic) from a fellow member and I’m just curious about the model.
It’s serial number is: 2c 411
Thanks yaw! |

I must have been in space when I Misread the serial number you posted. Been in a mess changing phone and TV around.
Been a 3 week zoo.
Your best way would be go to MSA's web site. E-mail the serial number to them. They have all of Mr. Andersons records and may be able to find the guitar build date.
They have been very helpful in finding born dates on the old MSA Classics. If someone at MSA sees this post they may come on the forum and give you the date.

Model number would have been CD-10 if it was a D10, or CD-12 if it was a D12, indicating a double-neck mica "Classic" guitar (one of the very early "Micro" examples.) If I had to guess when it was made, I'd say very early 1973, or maybe even late 1972.
David Wright should be able to give you more information in it. |

Donny, The serial number of my D-10 MSA Micro (73/73’ish I believe) was 2C897. Strange that I never forgotten it from when I was about 14 years old. Kyle looked it up when I was at MSA one day 3-4 years ago. It was sold to their distributor in Chicago and I bought it from The Music Mart in Smyrna, GA. _________________ Bill Cunningham

A search of the serial number shows John McGlothlin owned it in 2007 and it was a D-10 Classic 8&4 _________________ Zum StageOne

I found the serial number of the MSA Classic D10 I owned. Serial number 2C4331. The guitar was a White wood grain formica 8P X 4KL. It was a 10 string with 12 string key heads, Empty key blocks 1-12 at nut roller. Mr. Anderson said he could not find an exact date on the guitar. But said, "Thought it was built about 1973-74." |

Bobby, all the 10-string MSA's in that period were made like that, except the "SS" designated (super-small) guitars. Those SS models were specifically designed to be slightly smaller than an Emmons p/p, which was the most compact design up to that time (1972). |
