Audacity is a free audio recorder and editor for Windows, Mac and Linux. There is no support for MIDI.

The Windows version of Audacity has some new tools that run 100 percent on your computer. These tools were created by Intel and presently only run on Windows computers.

Music Separation can split a song into either it’s vocal and instrumental parts, or into vocals, drums, bass and a combined “anything else” part. This is ideal for creating covers and playalongs.

Music Generation allows a user to generate snippets of music from a text prompt (and other controls).

Music Style Remix allows a user to remix a portion of a track, given a text prompt.

I agree with Jim. Audacity is a great program that can do so many really cool things. I admit, I forget about having it sometimes and do things the hard way that would be much simpler in Audicity. I'm going to download the new version via the link Jim was so nice to provide. Thank you Jim.
