A 43 second clip. The backing is band-in-a-box (2008 version!). I'm not using any pedals or levers for this tune.

That was great Doug, it's from when TV shows theme songs were important. I love that show!.

One of our friends is cousins with Jim Nabors, he was a great singer.

But anyway, love that you picked and picked that song, maybe the Rockford Files next Very Happy

Very nice. Call me old but I miss the America of Andy Griffith. Kindness and honesty. I also vividly remember how excited I got when he played guitar, and the episodes with the Dillards. That and the Monkeys were my earliest exposure to music.

Thanks for posting that!

Thanks all! I should mention, I'm using a small bar for this song. Dunlop 918: 3/4" x 2 15/16" long, 5.5 oz. It's the bar I use for lap steel. This song has some hammer-ons and quick slides, and the smaller, lighter bar is so much easier to handle for that style than a pedal steel bar. It's not good for all-round 10-string pedal steel playing though. A PSG bar has better tone and sustain.

Andy and Big Barn would most certainly approve Doug…👍. I believe Opie/Ron turned the Big 70 this month….I’m also a ‘54 model….Thanks for making my day….would give a dollar and a quarter to sit on the porch with Andy and Barn one time….Carl
P.S. I’ve given my Taylor acoustic the nickname of Andy…😉

The show ran from 1960 to 1968. That was age 10 to 18 for me, and what a time of change those years were!

I've seen every episode multiple times. I can usually watch ten seconds of the show and I know about everything that's going to happen. I play a gig with Rodney Dillard ocassionally. He's the only one left of the Darlins. Super nice guy and a really good rhythm player.

That's really good playing. Nice and clean and good tone.

Doug, there was some mention of the short version and a long one, would love to hear the long one!

After listening I thought that there could be a cool improvised solo, I'm sure you are up for that Doug!

Anyway, that tune is one of my favorites!

Pick up your fish, Opie!

Great job, Doug!
(My old band would use that sometimes for a theme song.)

Thanks Chris, yeah, I actually tried soloing over this track and I couldn't come up with anything I liked so I went for the Short version. Smile
