Watching some YT coverage this morning. Steel in the Tracy Chapman/Luke Combs was purely as a 'chamber music' ensemble instrument so people sitting anxiously waiting for a Way To Survive ride were likely to be disappointed. Joe Gore on guitar.
Wondering who had the steel gig? Mullen guitar, I believe.
I'll always say "cool!"

| I addition to Joe Gore on guitar --- if they had shown his face instead of just a close-up of his violin, I would have known Larry Campbell. But we never see a shot of him. He posted yesterday about the honor of being onstage with this ensemble. |

| I did Grammys in 1999 and to be honest, when you see the outfits we were wearing, I'm glad I was way in the back in the dark. Up in the mix though....Man, I felt like a woman. |

Wow, that was already one of my favorite pop songs and this version just sends it home. Her voice hasn't aged a day in 30+ years! Awesome arrangement.

You nailed it. Great playing on this beautiful live version -- and at the Grammys!
By luck, I was seated directly in front of you, at a table in the very first row. I watched the entire moment in person, and it brought tears to my eyes.
I was immediately reminded of my dear friend Eddie Black and his beautiful steel part on the original version. Kurt, you employed the same restraint and perfect choice of notes in the moment. Congrats!
