Can someone tell me what the pot/switch on a '70's era Emmons D-10 is supposed to do? I have a '74 with a knob beside the toggle switch for activating each neck. I always felt it was an extraneous EQ adjustment but I just discovered that it also can be pushed to click on what I can only describe as the suck button. _________________ 2008 Zum D-10, 1996 Mullens PRP D-10, 1974 Emmons D-10, 1976 Emmons D-10, early 70s Emmons GS-10, Milkman Sideman head w/Telonics 15" speaker, 1966 Fender Super Reverb, 1970 Fender Dual Showman head, Wechter/Scheerhorn and Beard Dobros, 1962 Supro lap steels, Gibson 1939 RB-11 banjo, Gibson 1978 RB-250

On my '73, it's simply a tone pot which is either activated or bypassed by the adjacent two-position toggle switch. |

So Jack, I take it the position switch you're referring to isn't the large two-way switch with the black "hat" that activates the necks? Mine doesn't have another smaller toggle switch and the tone pot alternates between the "good" tone or a "bad" tone by depressing the knob which clicks between the two settings. I've had this guitar since 1979, and never realized the knob depresses until last night at rehearsal when I was desperately trying to get my good sound back. I'm really curious why there is this choice? _________________ 2008 Zum D-10, 1996 Mullens PRP D-10, 1974 Emmons D-10, 1976 Emmons D-10, early 70s Emmons GS-10, Milkman Sideman head w/Telonics 15" speaker, 1966 Fender Super Reverb, 1970 Fender Dual Showman head, Wechter/Scheerhorn and Beard Dobros, 1962 Supro lap steels, Gibson 1939 RB-11 banjo, Gibson 1978 RB-250

I'm far from an Emmons expert, but I don't recall ever seeing an Emmons D-10 set up such as you describe. Mine has the three-way switch (like on a Strat) with the black plastic tip to activate either or both necks, a two-position toggle to activate or bypass the tone pot, and the tone control.
Perhaps someone familiar with your setup will chime in. |
