I am a happy first-time Carter owner having purchased a nice S10 pro model from a forum member. It’s a great guitar but it’s missing one change that I’d like to add - the second string raise from D# to E on RKL. Does anyone know where I can get all the parts needed to add this… bell crank, dog bone, rod, nylon nut…
I found it on Steel Guitars of Canada web site but then I see a note that Al Briscoe closed it down.
Thanks for any guidance! |

FWIW, you can use any similar pullkit from any guitar with 3/8" (?) Square cross shafts ! Then,if you find Carter parts you can restore its originality. |

Thanks John. I was wondering about that. Will look into that as an option if I can’t find the real deal! |

It looks like a lot of old guitar parts will be hard to find.
Till Mike Yahl gets his ranch work caught up, And brings SGP website back on line.
Somewhere on the forum there was something about SGP got all of Al Brisco's Carter parts. |

Barry Coker is another source. With Michael out of action, Barry could make a killing. I asked Michael if he could start making Carter parts, and he said no because parts were still available from Brisco. That's no longer the case. Perfect opportunity for Barry. If I'm not mistaken, I think Barry has already made some Carter parts for someone. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Al Brisco has indeed closed up shop and sold all parts, rumored to be to Michael Yahl. Michael had to close up shop for a while to deal with personal life duties. Hopefully he can come back. He's one of the good guys. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Actually we just picked up a brand new milling machine today. We already make the Carter dog bones and have a lot in stock. We can also make replacement carter rods. Tuning nuts that is a different story. I'm still trying to source those. We are also in the middle of finishing up some Carter Bell cranks/rod pullers as well. We here at Outwest are gearing up to manufacture a lot of different parts for different guitars. That have been orphaned. We will be manufacturing a whole list of parts from cross shafts, bell cranks, rods, knee levers and on and on. Please if you need something and are not sure contact me as there is to much to list. But the carter parts etc. please see our new web site under carter parts. or if you wish PM, call or text me
thanks

Actually, I apologize because I didn't look at that very thoroughly. I thought all you needed to tell Wayne was "I need a rod for P1" but I see that it might be more involved. Rather than say anything more I'll just suggest that either you make sure you have a firm grasp -or- have a conversation with Wayne before ordering so that you can both be certain you are working with the same understanding. |

The B pedal has 2 different ways to have rods on those Carters. If it does not have the gear down then the rods are the same length. If it does have the gear down (extra Cross shaft) then there are to different rods lengths.
Thanks

UPDATE
Lori just went through the Carter pages and update the replacement rods. You just click on what size you need. You can also confirm with the photograph.
On another note if you are ordering small parts as well, if those do not hit the 60.00 CAD threshold for free shipping. The web site loves to roll that shipping on top of everything else. The easiest way is to contact us directly and we can combine the correct shipping. And I thank Doniel for finding that issue
thanks

That's fantastic Wayne! Thanks for taking care of us with these parts.
And I'll remind American customers that the $60 CAD for free shipping works out to only about $45 USD (at today's exchange rate). So it's good deal! |

Hi The last two post lost me !
I have checked my steel ( carter ) to see if there is a step down (I dont know if there was before I altered it from left to right) that was before the stroke.
But Ive got
2 rods on A pedal, 2 on B pedal, and 2 on C pedal,
so thats make 6 rods need
Thanks Paul |

Probably meaning what is commonly called a gear down mechanism with a few more pieces of linkage and used to even out the timing on some guitars like on strings 3 and 6.
