I'm stoked to share my interview with Kashiah Hunter, a sacred steel player out of Atlanta, GA. I dug talking to Kashiah about his musical journey and growing up as a "PK" (pastor's kid) in a church where the steel was the center of the music. He learned steel by ear playing along to cassettes of services and then by playing hundreds or thousands of them himself. Kashiah's melodies are deeply expressive, lyrical and gritty. He can make his steel sing. I really appreciate him talking the time to chat. I learned a lot about emotion in music and the amazing tradition of Sacred Steel.
