Wayne, the rack & barrel system is already all-pull. It is definitely an antiquated design without any leverage options, but it does allow multiple raises and lowers on each string, limited only by the number of pedals, levers and barrels one has on hand.

The customer would be better off selling the 6139, and buy a later model Pro I. Why bung up a nice 6139 rack and barrel?

Just my honest opinion. I would tell the customer his request is a poor choice.

Thanks for telling this story. I find it fascinating, aside from opinions I may have about changing a classic(though sometimes clunky and noisy with its own inherent design flaws) system for something different.

Your doing a nice job Wayne.
I liked the old rack and barrel system just for the freedom you had so many possible copedents as long as you had plenty of barrels.
They were very easy to work on.
Yes kind of noisy, but that was not so bad.

Well the customer is always right even when maybe wrong.
The modern scissor fingers make for nice easy and quiet pulls and with 3 up and 3 down that covers what most players want anyway.

I was thinking 3&3 would hang down below the end plate and it did, but you did a nice job with the cut out and adding the bar for the springs... Very Happy

Not wanting to quibble or go down a rabbit hole here BUT the rack system is not really“1&1”. It is almost unlimited. If you have lots of barrels you can have as many raises or lowers you want on any string. Again, though, this is a cool project and it looks great! I’m not criticizing.
