Ernie Renn and I are putting together a list of Buddy Emmons' "body of work" and want to include everything that exists that he created: courses, interviews, letters and any writings.

I'd like to borrow (or buy if necessary) the Guitar Player articles that Buddy Emmons wrote for several issues of that magazine back in the '60s.

Here is what we already have. If anyone knows of other things, please alert me (tommybradshaw@gmail.com)

BE-1 Harmonic Tune-Up – E9th - Tablature & Cassette
BE-2 E9th Chord Vocabulary - Tablature & Cassette
BE-3 Intro’s & Turnarounds, Vol. 1-E9th - Tablature & Cassette
BE-4 Intro’s & Turnarounds, Vol. 2 – E9th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-5 Half Duzen’ Shuffles – E9th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-6 Expo-E9th – 8 Tabbed tunes – Tablature & Cassette and later named “Learn to Play. It included “Rose Colored Glasses & “Oklahoma Stomp”, besides the 8 tunes in the original version.
BE-7 Basic C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-8 Three tabbed tunes from "Buddy’s Steel Guitar Jazz in Four Wheel Drive" LP Record: Cold Rolled Steel, Lily Dale & La Golondrina
BE-9 Three tabbed tunes from Buddy’s "Steel Guitar Jazz In Four Wheel Drive" LP Record: Bluemmons, Flint Hill Special & Four Wheel Drive
BE-10 In The Mood For Swing – E9th/C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-11 We’re Steel Swingin’ – E9th/C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-12 Swingin’ Our Way – E9th/C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-13 Swingin’ By Request – E9th/C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-14 It’s All in the Swing – E9th/C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-15 Steel Guitar Christmas Sounds – E9th & C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-16 Ten Songs On The E9th – Tablature & LP Record
BE-17 Blues to Use” – C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-18 Tabs of "licks, riff’s & runs” from Ernie Renn’s website.

I'm including the book written by Steve Fishell, even though Buddy didn't write it, but it has a lot of his writing in it.

Following this project I intend to create a list of all the instrumental tunes that Buddy recorded (a much larger project!). ...Tom

Can you give an idea of when these columns would have been printed in Guitar Player? I have some older GP magazines in storage that I'd be happy to give you, but I'd need to dig around to see when these were released.

Wow Tom ... that is quite an undertaking and I look forward to you and Ernie completing it. Wish I had something for you other than my anticipation.

Buddy's column in Guitar Player magazine was back in 1969, '70, or '71. I took over his column in December 1971. Buddy's last column was one or two issues before I began. I can't remember if the magazine was publishing quarterly, bi-monthly or monthly back then.

Since this topic was posted yesterday, I've added the following:

BE-17 Blues to Use” – C6th – Tablature & Cassette
BE-18 Tabs of licks, riff’s & runs” from Ernie Renn’s website
BE-19 “Get In Tune With Buddy Emmons” – LP & Instructions

Steve Fishell’s book (Buddy Emmons Steel Guitar Icon) will be included. Even though Buddy didn’t write it, it has a lot of his quotes in it. Following this current project I intend to create a list of all the instrumental tunes that Buddy Recorded (a much larger project, but I’m well on my way!). ...Tom

I have almost every Guitar Player issue from volume 1 up until around the mid-80’s or so. It looks like you’re getting a lot of Buddy’s columns from people. Contact me if there are any of his columns you don’t have or can’t get.

It looks like I'll be getting copies of these columns. Just as soon as I can, I'll be adding them to my website. I'll alert everyone here when that happens. My website's http is getting a new name. I'll include that as soon as I know. ...Tom
