Topic: Changing from the Emmons setup to the Day set up. |

I have recently bought a absolutely beautiful Emmons Legrand 3,but it is set up for Emmons,and I play the Day set up,the problem is I am a bit reluctant to start changing it over because of the compensating system,is there anything I should be careful of before I start?

Take a lot of pictures before you start. Write down the puller holes and changer holes for each change before you start. Do one change at a time You might need more rods cut to new lengths depending on where the changes end up. The first time moving things can be overwhelming but take your time and you can get through it.

Two years ago, I'd have posted pretty much what you just did.
I have been forced into what have become routine changes because I no longer travel. I'm therefore obliged to do my own work.
Find the Emmons rodding-chart and follow the factory settings for those fundamental changes. As Craig said, take pictures or, at least, detailed notes. You should just be switching pedals 1 and 3 and LKL with LKR.
I think you need to remove all the pedal rods/hex nuts - when you reverse things, the rods will need to go in the right changer-holes so they'll need to be clear.
The only tussle you'll have is those pesky E-clips; I get my wife to use her dainty fingers at that point.
Really, it's just logical. I just successfully changed an Emmons SKH from Emmons to Day. If I can do it, anyone can.

Hello Jimmy.
There should be no need to worry about cutting new rods.
All you are doing is removing the nylon tuning nuts. Then if there is room loosen the bell cranks and remove them with the rod attached. Then relocate to the location of the new changer hole.
If not enough room to remove the bell crank disconnect the rod and slide the bell crank along the shat to its new location.
A rodding chart will be a big help.
Taking photos can be a big help also

If it happens that there are not the same amount going on that came off there will be a need for rods. Example: 1st string raise, 2nd string raise, 6th string lower on RKL moving to LKR only lowering the E’s requires another rod right?

I may have one saved in 'documents'. I will look after walking the dog.

As long as you observe the ratios for the A and C pedals and the E raise-and-lowers, it doesn't matter whether they're C,B,A (Day) or A,B,C (Emmons).
This chart is for 'Emmons' but simply switch pedals 1 and 3 and LKL with LKR.
The first figure is the changer-hole, the second is the hole-number on the bell-crank. Note that hole 1 on the BC is nearest the cross-shaft, hole 14 is at the outer end.
