The closest would be an E9th tuning. intervals B2H are 1 5 1 9 5 1 |

One convention is to name a tuning by the chord formed by it. Another general convention is to only call the 2 interval in a chord a 9 if it's an extension of a 7th chord. Since there's no 7th (either maj7 or b7) in that E chord, I'd just call it E add2 or sus2. In fact, there's also no 3rd in that chord, so it's not even a full E triad. Just power chords 1 5 1 x 5 1 with x = 2.
As a practical matter, I don't think it matters much what it's called. Saying it's E add2 doesn't really spell out the chord voicing. In fact, I find many of the tuning naming conventions on steel guitar pretty confusing. IMO, they're only as useful as they are generally accepted and thus make it easier to communicate with other players. |

Dave makes a good point about naming chords and tunings.
There are issue with chords built on 4ths or 5ths rather than 3rds.
This tuning has a built-in stack of 5ths, E-B-F#.
Somehow there has not yet been an agreed upon way to name non-tertian chords.
I can see where this could be handy for certain modal uses. |

Thanks for the replies.
I thought the tuning might have a name.
I'll just use it for some of my compositions and not worry about what it is. |

E = 1
B = 5
F# = 2
An E tuning with only the 1 and 5 could be called either E5 or Esus. When you add in the F# it becomes Esus2.
If your tuning included either the 3 (G or G#) or the 7 (D) than the F# would function as the 9, and you’d have an E9 tuning.
For convenience you could call your tuning Esus2. _________________ Current Tunings:
6 String | G – G B D G B D
7 String | G6 – e G B D G B D (re-entrant)
