Spencer - do you mean one of the cap screws that go into the changer/end plate? (I've never heard of an "open string screw" but I'm assuming you mean the raise screw? Is it the screw's threads or head? Or is it something else?

Is this guitar is a push pull?

The bottom screw of the end plate, yes it’s a push pull

If the threads of the finger are stripped you’ll probably need a new finger. You could possibly tap it to a larger screw size but then you have a bigger screw which you don’t want. I’d try Emmons co for a new finger. If it’s the threads of the screw, obviously it should just be replaced. If it’s the head of the screw, I would try to back it out using a needle nose player and replace. Hope that helps, can’t think of anything else.

Need more detail.

If I remember right the bottom row is a mid tone adjustment, meaning the screw adjusts to string pitch. The push pulls has some king of red goop to keep the screws from coming loose. Are you sure its stripped it turns very easy if there is no goop.

The cap screws are available at most hardware stores as well as Home Depot, etc. I would try a new one first. If the finger is stripped, I would put some blue lock tight (NOT RED) on the screw and re install it. But keep turning the screw while it sets so you fill in some of the stripped area but not lock the screw. Once the lock tight is almost set, remove the screw and let the lock tight set hard and reinstall the screw. I have done this before on other problems and if the pressure on the screw is not great, it sometimes holds. Good luck, changing a finger on a push pull is a pain.

Spencer,

If you need a replacement, it is a 6-32 thread and 1 inch long, and can be had at any hardware store. Most came from the factory with a threadlocker on them, for just one you can borrow your girlfriend or moms finger nail polish, or you can get a small tube of blue loctite. Better still, you can borrow an unused screw for one of the lowers, it will probably be a pinch shorter, but will work fine.

If you need further help, reach out to us at Emmons Guitar Co.
