I have a nice 6140 that hasn't been butchered. 6 pedals, C6 tuning. Original case. Leg and rod bag included too. 10 rods and 11 barrels. Great looking and sounding old Bud. I bought it for getting into C6 but recently got a ShoBud D10 and don't play this anymore. Wanted to offer it to the folks here before I put it on Reverb or somewhere else. Asking $2800 plus the ride.

I think this classic was made in Feb. 1973. I was working there about that time. RP _________________ Emmons SKH Le Grande, '73 Fender P/J bass, Tick tack bass, Regal high strung, USA Nashville 112. |

Actually Ron; serial# 5118 was made February 1974( I think you meant to say).; also most all sho-bud's made during first year of LDG from May 1973 to May 1974; had that "Green Tint" added to the white spray texture on the bottom of body.
But at that time; they already moved to round crossbars and two hole pullers pulling barrels; so this S-10 was custom ordered with Racks; as sho-bud was truly a "Custom shop" and would build anything per order.

Ricky, do you know why they used a textured finish on the undersides of these guitars instead of just a plain flat finish? |

Yes; they did that per idea from a builder: that it would cut down the vibrating/metal noise transfer to pickup.
That idea eventually went away after Crossbars came out on all models.

Could be converted but it takes a bit of work. Here is a photo of the E9 setup.

If you had the parts and know-how it could be converted. When I got this it was tuned to E9 with the pedals setup to where 4 and 5 raised and lowered E . I can't remember what the 6 pedal was doing. |
