If it was George's band, the steel player was Tom Killen-if it was Merle's band, Norm Hamlet

If you're talking about the duet album Merle and George did with Billy Sherrill in the early '80s, I'm pretty sure it's Weldon Myrick.

The 1982 Merle Haggard & George Jones George Jones album "A Taste Of Yesterday's Wine" did, in fact, feature Weldon Myrick.

Paul Franklin was the steel player on their duet 2006 album "Kickin' Out The Footlights ...Again
